John's Bio...

After high school, John attended technical college in Eau Claire, WI and obtained a degree in Criminal Justice. He was hired as a jailer/dispatcher in 1973 at the Dunn County Sheriff's Department in Menomonie, WI and remained there for over 32 years until his retirement in April 2006. During his time at the Department, he rose through the ranks working as a patrol deputy, detective, detective sergeant, and eventually chief deputy. His most favorite memories were during the times as a detective where he investigated cases ranging from simple thefts to homicides. In 1993, John also started working part-time as an instructor for the same college he graduated from in the tactical area of emergency driving. Also in 1993, John obtained a private pilots license where on occasions he would fly for the sheriff's department to search for missing persons, stolen equipment, bank robberies, and marijuana fields. John maintains his Wisconsin Technical College teaching certification as well as his certification as a Unified Tactical Instructor with the Wisconsin Department of Justice. He also stays current with his pilots' certificate although most of his flying these days is recreational.

John's racing career actually started in 1974 when he raced a year at the Eau Claire, WI Speedway. Things stalled out until 1979, when John and his brother-in-law put together a street stock and started racing locally. Although his brother-in-law retired from racing in the mid 80's, John and his crew kept on and never stopped. In 1985, John switched to the Wissota Modified class and in 1987 moved into the Late Model Division where he is still today. Some of John's original dedicated crew is still onboard, while his sons have stepped up into critical roles with the team as well, making the operation one of the most successful in the region.
